WHY MAKE THE SWITCH TO EARTH-FRIENDLY CLEANING PRODUCTS?

Do you hate cleaning? For the most part I believe it is probably due to the fact that we are used to buying toxic cleaning products and not the physical act of cleaning itself. Before I made the switch to earth-friendly cleaning products, I remember being pregnant and leaving the house when my cleaning lady was spraying the shower with a strong mildew cleaner. It was so strong that I instinctively knew that I should leave because of the harm it could cause my baby and I would make my cleaning lady open all the windows and I would only come back into the house once the smell had gone. Unbelievable if I think about it now........ I was so obsessed with the shower being spotless of any trace of grime and mildew that I allowed these toxic chemicals to be sprayed into my home. Since then, I spent time with friends who had not yet made the switch. They had a cleaning service clean their house while I was there. Every possible toxic cleaner was used that day and boy could I feel the difference. I had such a headache and I could feel the tingling in my nose from breathing in the fumes. Needless to say, I introduced them to my cleaners! I have had a couple of people snigger at the thought of using earth-friendly cleaning products, one man said to me "I bet you have to really use some elbow grease with those products" - this is simply not true. My lemon all-purpose scrub is marvellous for getting out grease and I have even taken out pen marks from my tracksuit pants that my 2 year old drew on. I left the product on the pen marks for an hour or so, gave it a little rub and popped it into the wash. It came out as good as new.

Most of us happily spray harmful cleaning products on our surfaces, not thinking about the fact that our children crawl all over the floors, touching the chemicals, eat food off surfaces that have been sprayed with chemicals........eeek, again what a thought! I get such satisfaction when I spray my surface cleaner around the kitchen when my children are eating, knowing that they are breathing in only pure plant oils. My surfaces are left clean and safe and the house smells wonderful too. I once watched my 2 year old spill some ice-cream onto the wooden coffee table, he licked it off and as he did, I felt at ease knowing that the table had been cleaned with my lemon scented furniture polish made from an olive/canola oil, white vinegar and pure essential oil of lemon - nothing harmful for his little body to ingest. We are so busy trying to KILL, KILL, KILL all those nasty bacteria, but have you ever thought about the harm we are doing to our children, ourselves and the environment. It is a mindset making the switch to earth-friendly cleaning products and I love the way it makes me feel. I used to be neurotic about buying the most powerful grease cutters, mildew killers, you name it. I thought that the more clinical my house smelt, the cleaner it was.

Now I absolutely LOVE cleaning. I love the different smells of the aromatherapy essential oils and my whole house smells and feels fresh. I find excuses to clean all the time! I feel such a sense of satisfaction knowing that I am helping the environment and all that exists in it.

It is so easy to make the switch and really requires no effort at all. We all have to clean and so why not clean the safe way. The earth-friendly cleaning products compare favourably in price to commercial cleaning products and so to me it is a "no-brainer".

ALWAYS READ THE INGREDIENTS ON PRODUCTS AND MAKE YOURSELF AWARE OF THE HARMFUL ONES!

MAKE THE CHANGE TO EARTH-FRIENDLY CLEANING PRODUCTS AND SEE HOW THEY MAKE YOU FEEL!! YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
