CLEANSE FINISHED!

I finished my 30 day cleanse yesterday, with a few naughties I'm afraid!  About 6 glasses of  red wine in 30 days, not bad compared to 60!  And, absolutley no caffeine at all and I might add that the glasses of wine were drunk at several end of year functions, so all in all I don't feel too guilty.  You know, today I woke up and contimplated having a cup of coffee and actually didn't even want it!  I highly recommend going on a cleanse every now and then, it is so good for our bodies and I feel GREAT!

MY CLEANSE/DETOX DAY DAY 19

O.K. I broke it.................On Wednesday night I went to my son's Christmas concert and they had a fabulous dinner afterwards, with glorious red wine.  Oh well, one glass in 19 days, not to bad, I don't think.  I am back on track now.

MY CLEANSE/DETOX DAY 17

Day 17 and going strong!  This is a piece of cake!!  I haven't had any cravings for caffeine, but have to admit that I have had a few for red wine...

MY DETOX/CLEANSE DAY 10

Still doing great!  Yesterday, I made some cookies using xylitol for my children-they loved them!  They came out soft instead of crispy but I think it is because of the xylitol.  Sugar would crystalize and make the cookies crispy whereas xylitol doesn't.  Oh well, the goal was to satisfy there sugar cravings and I think I accomplished this, so each week I shall bake a new batch....

MY CLEANSE/DETOX DAY 7

Day 7 and feeling fabulous!  I am definitely going to do these cleansers more often.  In fact, starting this week, I am getting ready to make all kinds of healthy sweet treats for my kids with carob and xylitol.  I will be sharing those recipes on my blog.  I feel like I am over the worst now and can keep going for my 30 days as planned, just in time for the holidays....don't know if anybody is even reading this, but it keeps me going anyway.....

MY CLEANSE/DETOX DAY 5

Day 5 and feeling great!  I truly feel more wide-eyed and less irritable.....Funny, I thought that the caffeine would make one feel wide eyed!  Tonight will be a hard one to resist a glass of nice red wine, as we are having pizza -let's see.....

MY CLEANSE/DETOX DAY 4

Day 4 and doing great!  The headache has subsided and I must say I just feel so much better drinking more water.  I even resisted a cup of afternoon tea with my son's 5 year birthday cake yesterday.  I am really enjoying drinking South African Rooibos tea, which is delicious and really good for you...

FOLLOW MY CLEANSE/DETOXIFICATION

I absolutely love good red wine and good coffee!  However, I have decided to cut these out of my daily consumption for the next 30 days.  Eeek, what will I do without my morning cup of coffee and my so looked forward to glass of red wine as the sun is setting over the ocean whilst I am cooking?  Well, I started yesterday and so far so good.  I have a massive headache right now from the caffeine withdrawal.  I have also cut out tea containing caffeine and again this will be huge for me, as I very much enjoy a cup of tea in the afternoons.  I am replacing my fluids with lots of water (which I seriously am bad about drinking in general) and fruit juices that do not contain sugar.

SO LET'S SEE HOW I GO AND HOW I FEEL AT THE END.  I have never been able to stick to one of these cleansers, but I am hoping that if I record it in my blog, it will give me the vuma to keep going.

WE CHOOSE OUR TEACHERS IN THIS WORLD

I really don't believe in the whole "fuzzy wuzzy love feeling", sure it does exist at first when you are initially attracted to someone, but in the end I believe we attract the partners who we are meant to learn the most from, by that I mean life challenges.....this also applies to the people who we come into contact with in our lives, they are all there to teach us something and visa versa....

HEALING THE NATURAL WAY

How cute is this...........my 10 year old special needs son, said to me that his nose was sick.  By that he meant he was having sinus problems.  I gave him a foot reflexology session and spent a lot of time working on his sinusus.  I also gave him ferrum phos, one of the homeopathic tissue salts especially for inflammtion etc.  His sick nose started to feel much better in a couple of days.

OCTOBER INSPIRATION - MENTAL TELEPATHY

My daughter was away on school camp for the last 3 days.  Yesterday I got a real potent feeling of missing her.  I looked at the clock and it was around 16:20 and I wondered if she was missing me too.  When she came home today, I asked her if she had felt homesick at all and she said that around that same time, she had told her friends that she was missing her mom!  There really is mental telepathy and it can be a good thing....it can get you in touch with your feelings and also connect you with people you haven't heard from or seen in a while.

THE USE OF XYLITOL INSTEAD OF REFINED SUGAR

Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol sweetner, found in the fibres of many fruits and vegetables.  It is a wonderful substitute to refined sugar and comes in a crystalized form that you can spinkle on food.  It is actually good for you and helps to reduce cavities and ear and sinus infections and it tastes good!  A great substitute to use in recipes, especially for children.  It also has antibacterial properties.  You can purchase it in the health section in your local supermarket, or at a health store.

AUGUST INSPIRATION-HOW BEAUTIFUL THE WIND CAN ACTUALLY BE!

Up until today, I have spent my entire life moaning about the wind!   I live against a mountainside and overlook the ocean, so we do get a lot of wind.  My husband has just returned from a trip overseas and he brought me a wind chime for the back garden.  Oh, how I love the wind now........I cannot wait for it to be windy, the sounds of the chimes are just gorgeous.  I think the lesson here, is to always look for the good in everything........

AUGUST INSPIRATION - ANGELS ARE EVERYWHERE!

While driving my children to school this morning, I literally drove through a rainfall of white feathers.  I really believe in Angels and that when we find white feathers, they are messages from Angels.  A dear friend of mine lost her husband 5 months ago and when I sent her a text message telling her that I had just driven through a rainfall of feathers, she replied by saying "Beautiful, his way of thanking you for your friendship".

INSPIRATIONS FOR JULY - GENTLE LURING TO NEW ADVENTURE

Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & SmallI truly believe in the power of listening to animals for messages. While walking in the mountains last week, I came across 3 deer. It was so special. When I came home, I looked up in my animal book to see what the meaning of seeing deer is, this is what it said "Gentleness and Innocence - Gentle Luring to New Adventure". This is so appropriate for where I am at in my life right now, I am about to embark on a new business adventure. Take note of the animals that cross your path........

INSPIRATIONS FOR JULY - LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!

I write these inspirations as they come to me, so they are totally my own thoughts and opinions, and not intended to offend in anyway.

I have an elderly reflexology client, who is like a breath of fresh air to me. I do her feet once a week and each time I leave her, I feel enriched. She has taught me how life is just too short to sweat the small things!

There are people all around us, all the time who can enrich our lives - even if it is just a once off encounter with someone. Whenever I meet somone new that jumps out at me, I ponder at the end of the day as to what that person has taught me. There are teachers around us all the time!

INSPIRATIONS FOR JULY - PORES OR PAWS?

While we were driving in the car yesterday, I noticed that my 12 year old had piled foundation onto her face. It was all smeered in patches. I couldn't believe it. She is so worried about getting pimples and I said to her that this is one way she can now start to create them, by piling on foundation and clogging up her young pores with make up. My 4 year old responded by saying "Sissy doesn't have paws, only Milo our dog has them" - too sweet!

My daughter has such a beautiful skin and I just think she should leave it alone while she is still so young. Gosh, I find it a pain to go through the whole cleaning process twice a day and at the age of 12 she doesn't need all that.

RED MEAT

I haven't eaten red meat since I was about the age of 13. I went to a boarding school, where I am convinced that they served us the old donkeys that used to walk passed the school! It put me off terribly. I have never fed it to my children either, as I just feel we are healthier without it. A long time ago, I had a boyfriend who was a farmer. He insisted that I go with him to the abbatoirs one time and I have never forgotten that experience. The whole way to the abbatoir, the animals were very restless. When we got there, the animals that were on the truck wouldn't get off. They had to be forced. It broke my heart, not to mention the adrenaline that was pumping through them. They obviously knew what was going on........now how can that not affect the meat we eat?!

NASTURTIUM LEAVES - DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that eating nasturtium leaves takes away a sore throat. I will never have a garden without growing nasturtium leaves and everytime I feel a tickle in my throat, I pick a few leaves, wash them and chow them down. They taste a little burny, but well worth the reward of taking away a sore throat, instead of taking medication or antibiotics. Nasturtiums are a natural antibiotic. You can also make a yummy nasturtium salad with the leaves and the flowers.

DO YOU READ LABELS?

I am fanatical about reading the ingredients on food labels and on cosmetics. I actually can't pick up anything that I buy without looking at the ingredients. It can tell you so much about a product. There are so many ingredients that are harmful and we should be aware of them.

RED WINE - YES THIS IS PART OF MY HOLISTIC LIFESTYLE!

I can just see my friends laughing when they read this. I thought I'd throw in a little lightness amidst all the seriousness! I love my red wine. I find it is very therapeutic to start the cooking of the evening meal, just as the sun is going down and crack open a bottle of red wine.
I am very fortunate to live in a country where our wine is really good. I am surrounded by beautiful wine farms and so drinking bad wine is out of the question.

IT IS GOOD FOR THE HEART TOO!

WORLD PEACE PLAN

To create peace on the planet we need to ignore our differences and concentrate on our oneness as human beings. We can include "The Great Invocation" (a prayer done by the United Nations), in our mediatations and daily thoughts and in this way we will raise the consciousness of the entire human race.

"THE GREAT INVOCATION"
"From the point of light
within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into
the minds of men.
Let light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love
within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into
the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where
the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the
little wills of men-
The purpose which
the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which
we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love
and Light work out
And may it seal the door
where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power
restore the Plan on Earth."

INSPIRTIONS FOR JULY - WHALE WATCHING FROM ABOVE

Do you ever have days when you find yourself unexpectedly and unplanned in a beautiful place? I had one yesterday. I decided to climb the mountain behind my house, which I have never done since I have lived here in 3 years! I have only ever climbed the mountain to the side of us! WOW - I came across the most beautiful rain-filled dam, a deck and picnic table. The view from there was incredible. I was right on top of the mountain, overlooking the ocean and even saw a whale jumping! It is whale season in our little town right now and all the moms have come to have their babies in our waters- such a priviledge.
Such a treat to suddenly discover this most beautiful place right behind my house. I felt like I wanted to shout out to the world to come and share it with me. It certainly lifted my spirits.

INSPIRATIONS FOR JULY - DELIGHTFUL SAYINGS BY CHILDREN

My Mosaic Downs Syndrome son was given a drawing done by his Downs Syndrome girlfriend. He thanked her by saying "thanks, sweet, that is very GIFTFUL."

THE EFFECTS OF REFINED SUGAR ON MY CHILDREN

My children are the kind that just bounce off the walls when they eat sweets made from refined sugar. I have spent a great deal of time thinking up healthy alternatives to their sweet intake. The recipes I post are tried and tested. My kids love them and aren't even bothered that they are not traditional sweets. I think it is because they are getting their sugar fix naturally. I have found that they are far calmer....

I especially have to watch the refined sugar intake of my Mosaic Downs Syndrome son. The sugar has a direct effect on his ears. When he has had a lot of refined sugar he gets ear infections.

YOUR THOUGHTS ARE EVERYTHING!

Every thought you have, creates your reality. Think carefully........

RECIPE FOR SOOTHING HEADACHES WITH A LAVENDER AND MINT EYE PILLOW

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN LAVENDER AND MINT EYE PILLOW:

INGREDIENTS:

Flax seeds (about 1 1/2 cups)
Dried mint (about 2 tablespoons)
Dried lavender (about 3 tablespoons)
Peppermint essential oil
Lavender essential oil
(above quantities can be adjusted to suit)

Soft material, preferably cotton or silk. Enough to place across the eyes.

METHOD:

Place flax seeds, dried mint, dried lavender, a few drops of peppermint essential oil and a few drops of lavender essential oil into a mixing bowl and mix together.

Sew the sides of the material and leave an opening enough to place a funnel for pouring the above mixture into the material. Then sew the opening closed.

You do not want to make the filling to full, it should rest nice and softly on the eyes.

Flax seeds are the perfect weight for eyes and can be purchased at a health store or perhaps even the health section in your grocery store.

You can also make a pillow case for the eye pillow, this way you can wash the cover. Once the scent fades, you can simply dot a few drops of lavender onto the pillow, this will refresh it.

CLEANING PRODUCTS AND DINING OUT

How many times have you eaten at a restaurant and noticed the waitrons cleaning the tables around you??? In my experience, I have noticed it many times and it is so off-putting to me. I am about to eat a meal and at the same time I am inhaling toxic fumes from the cleaners. If they were using earth-friendly cleaning products, the meal would be a whole lot more appetizing and safe!

PRODUCT FEEDBACK

"Your products are simply marvellous. I use the surface cleaner daily on my tile floors and they sparkle. My neighbor uses it on her wood floors and says thay they have never been brighter looking. What a great testament for simple, pure ingredients which respect the earth and refresh the soul. I use the all-purpose scrub for any number of projects around the house and find that I can also use the air fresheners to iron my clothes, instead of starch, it gives them a lovely smell while also freshening the air each time I spray it. I am so happy you have created these lovely and child-friendly products.
It is such a relief knowing that my children are no longer breathing in those toxic chemicals everyday. I think they are more alert and my plants seem happier too.
Thanks again!"....Margaux

"I love the products! They have very nice fragrances and make the house smell wonderful. But, even more advantageous is that they clean as well or better than any products I have ever used, without the harmful chemicals. I especially like the toilet bowl cleaner that leaves such a pleasant clean smell and the air fresheners are divine!!! I really am grateful for the opportunity to keep my new home clean, healthy and smelling fresh and inviting. You have a wonderful thing going and it's a blessing."....Joan

"I love your products, because they make the house smell so clean, fresh and without harmful chemicals."....Elizabeth

"I'm in love, love, love with the toilet cleaner. I want to use it everytime I'm in the bathroom. It smells and cleans nicely too. Well done! I've also used the lemon all-purpose scrub and I like that too. These really are wonderful products."....Katie

"Jean, keep making your wonderful products!"....Toni

"I love your products and especially the fact that they are so child-friendly!"....Robyn
